As we say goodbye to this year’s Chief Analytics Officer (CAO) Forum in Boston, we reflect on some of the insights we learned from the event. Last week, we published some of these takeaways in our blogs, CAO Fall Day 1: How Can You Apply Insights From Your Data? and CAO Fall Recap Take 2: How To Successfully Implement Machine Learning.
As noted in our first blog, our team had the opportunity to hear from Juan Gorricho, Senior Vice President of Data and Analytics at TSYS, as he shared his views on data’s growing influence and potential. We also had the opportunity to hear from Matthew Marolda from WarnerMedia Applied Analytics, who reiterated these trends and shared some real-life examples from his company. Check out our latest blog to learn more about what they had to say.
In our second blog, many of the questions asked from Day 1 of the conference were insightfully answered. Varun Manocha and Vikas Sharma, both Vice Presidents, Decision Analytics at EXL outlined how enterprises can build more effective machine learning solutions to improve their operations in 3 steps. Another presentation took this concept one step further and detailed a real-world application of machine learning from idea to implementation. Read more from our Take 2 blog here.
Now, as we’ve returned to Maven Wave’s Chicago HQ, let’s take a look at where else we’re headed for the remainder of 2018.
Up next, we’re heading across the loop in our hometown, Chicago, for the Google Cloud Summit on October 23. The Google Cloud Summit, similar to others previously held across the country, brings together executives, customers, partners, developers, IT decision makers, and Google engineers to build the future of the cloud. Attendees will choose from over 25 sessions on Google Cloud Platform, G Suite, and more. You can check out our very own Jason Foa, Managing Director, Infrastructure, who will be speaking in Building the Foundation for Success in the Cloud as Explained by the Movies from 1:30-2:00 pm CT. If you aren’t attending, you can follow along on Twitter and keep an eye on our blog for more from the event!
Back in September, our team attended and sponsored the Google Cloud Summit in New York City, and one message that was strongly emphasized was that Google Cloud offers a holistic, 4-step approach to enabling digital transformation for the enterprise:
- Modernize infrastructure: stop spending time on things that aren’t moving the business forward.
- Reimagine work: enable innovation and a collaborative culture.
- Create intelligence from data: intelligence is everywhere, you just need to maximize the potential of your data.
- Unleash your developers: accelerate application development and build a better experience for customers.

As we say goodbye to October, and sticking with the financial services trend, we’ll be headed back out east for the FinTech Festival in New York City on November 1st.
The TABB Group FinTech Festival aims to bring together technologists, thought-leaders, innovators, and pioneers in the FinTech space, having a unique focus on B2B and wholesale financial services in FinTech.
“The Rise of FinTech is causing a complete restructuring of the global economy and the wholesale financial markets are not immune. Through the combination of cloud, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, our markets will be interconnected. Capital markets will be integrated with the real-world markets in real-time like never before. As a result, the economy will become virtual, digital, and automated.”
Maven Wave is excited to meet with innovators who are shaping the world of tomorrow in the financial services space, as well as share our own ideas for how to best position your company for success, now and into the future.
By November, we’ll certainly be feeling those chilly Chicago temps – so it won’t be too difficult getting our Maven Wave team members down to sunny Naples, Florida for the Global Financial Leadership Conference from the 12th-14th. Last year, the CME Group celebrated their 10th anniversary of the GFLC conference and, following suit of years prior, delivered a quality lineup of thought-leaders. You can read last year’s recap of the GFLC conference here.
