Standard Industries is a global industrial company with interests in building materials, including the world’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, as well as solar, aggregates, and related investment businesses. As a global company with a presence on four continents, Standard Industries has 15,000+ employees across 184 locations spanning 80 countries.
Standard Industries found collaborating and streamlining communications to be a difficult task. The simple exercise of scheduling a senior leadership meeting required several executive assistants to get on the phone together to determine availability. Additionally, they had over 28 active directory environments as well as four different mail and collaboration platforms company-wide. They needed a single collaboration tool that would be able to help them achieve unification for all of their locations across four continents.
To address these challenges, Standard Industries partnered with Maven Wave to migrate to Google Workspace. The migration started small, only moving the company’s New York City office, and only to Gmail and Google Calendar. Then, with Maven Wave’s change management guidance, the team shifted the entire company to Google Workspace, including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Standard Industries and Maven Wave focused on the end-user and helped to facilitate a change in behavior in how they go about their day-to-day business. They conducted transformation labs, in which they gathered people together for 3-4 hours and focused on business processes and challenges. This brought to light some of the challenges employees had outside of the previous tools, so then Google tools were applied to solve those problems. As a result, Google Workspace adoption is really taking off company-wide.
