The founders of Maven Wave have kept a handwritten note from their first meeting, 11 years ago. It’s a list of guiding principles, including directives such as “no B players,” “everyone sells,” and “do the right thing” – and it’s topped by one overarching word: culture.

We’ve made a lot of changes in the 11 years since that note was written – expanding from a few people around a conference table to 330+ employees, acquiring two companies and dozens of awards, branching out to focus on Financial Services, Healthcare, Retail, and several other verticals, and rapidly growing on every measure.
Heraclitus, the famous greek philosopher, once remarked that “you can’t step in the same river twice.” Change is the only constant. Likewise, our company is always changing both inside and out. On the outside, we help clients navigate the shift to digital. On the inside, we change ourselves in anticipation of our clients’ evolving needs. While we have changed to meet the market, the core ideas from that first meeting have remained, and while our next exciting chapter with Atos represents change, we believe it allows us to remain true to the core ideas that have made us successful.
With the deal finalized last week, Maven Wave is now part of the Atos family. We’re thrilled for the opportunity to work together with Atos–a global powerhouse in digital transformation–to help the world’s largest enterprises make the shift to digital and shorten the fuse to innovation. With Atos’ enterprise scale and proven global leadership alongside Maven Wave’s strengths in digitalizing business using Google Cloud, the combination positions us to be the top Google Cloud services partner globally.
The Maven Wave Success Story
In such a fast-paced industry, one rarely has the opportunity to pause and reflect. In 2008, Maven Wave wasn’t yet a Google Cloud partner and we were only beginning our journey. “Digital transformation” didn’t exist yet. But the need to blend business and technology were (and still are) the key to success. Cloud adaptation was slow, and the potential to use data to revolutionize business value was in its infancy. These ingredients were the beginning of the Maven Wave story.
For the first handful of years the growth was linear and exciting, but in 2015 growth accelerated and the curve became exponential. What changed
- The rapid adoption of cloud computing by the world’s largest corporations
- The strategic use of big data across the whole value chain
- The unique insight gained from sophisticated machine learning models
- Maven Wave’s deep relationship with Google Cloud
With that wind at our back, Maven Wave has doubled in size every 15 months since its founding in 2008. Fast forward to today and Maven Wave has been named Google Cloud North America Services Partner of the Year the last two years in a row.
Startups succeed because of a confluence of grit, insight, and timing, and yes, we had all of those things. But the two most important ingredients for startup success are a) top-notch talent and b) exciting clients willing to trust us with their toughest challenges.
Top-Notch Talent
We have been fortunate enough to attract talent in spades! From the founding concept on that handwritten note from 2008 that we would hire “no B Players” straight through to the most recent hire today, we have looked for what we call “X-Factor.” X-Factor is that unteachable quality that draws other people in, encourages them to work a little harder, and collaborate a little better. Technical expertise and business acumen are important, yes, but likeability, magnetism, and charisma are critical. Clients want to work with people they like, and if they like working with us, they’ll want us to go deeper and help more.
Exciting Clients
Clients who choose Google Cloud are choosing to be more innovative, more experimental, and seeking exponential returns. We have been extremely lucky to work with some of the largest companies in the world to make their businesses more agile, more mobile, and more analytical by taking advantage of the cloud to solve exciting business challenges. We thank our lucky stars every day for the incredible roster of clients with whom we have the privilege of working.
Without fun problems and trusting clients, we could not have attracted the top-notch talent, and without X-Factor talent, clients would not trust us with these problems. We are grateful for this enviable position every day.
The Path Forward
At Maven Wave, we welcome the collaboration and expertise that our new colleagues from Atos bring. Already, we feel energized by this partnership that will benefit our customers.
We will continue to serve our clients in the Maven Wave way with forward-thinking solutions and the X-Factor team our clients have come to trust. But the scale that our new partner brings will allow us to take on bigger challenges and drive change faster.
We are proud to be called Maven Wave, an Atos company, and look forward to a bright future. If you want to work for us or with us, we are ready, willing, and able to do so, contact us here.
