4 Simple Ways AI is Changing Business

We’ve all benefited from artificial intelligence (AI) enhancing our personal lives; from using GPS to predict the fastest route to having Spotify suggest songs that we may like. Artificial intelligence is not just affecting our personal lives, but we are now seeing it being adopted by the enterprise.

In the coming years, we can expect AI to become one of the biggest disruptors within the enterprise. In fact, research shows most occupations can have 30% of their daily activities automated (McKinsey Global Institute). Even more eye-opening is that Gartner predicts by 2022, one in five people will have AI as one of their coworkers. Today, many companies are already taking advantage of AI’s ability to automatically execute tasks, enhance customer service, and secure company information. Below we dive deeper into how Google Cloud’s Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities (application of AI) are being used to streamline, optimize, and improve the way we work today.

Intuitive Collaboration

Effective collaboration with colleagues allows us to execute tasks at a faster pace and create better end-products. Recently, Google launched Hangouts Chat, a messaging platform built for teams. With Hangouts Chat, employees will have the ability to upload files to Google Drive as well as collaborate on Docs, Sheets, Slides, and video chat in virtual rooms where they can work on projects and track progress.

The tool also features a set of 25 unique bots to help companies improve organization, productivity, mindfulness, and more. The bots provided will automate tasks and give users the ability to execute commands in chat rooms and direct messages. Below are examples of useful Google Bots you can start using today:

  • The @Drive bot will alert you when a file has been added or when people request access to a document.
  • The @Meet bot helps users plan meetings by integrating with your Google Calendar.
  • In addition to useful integrations with G Suite apps, Chat connects to several third-party tools, helping you manage all of your work in one place.

Suggested Email Responses

AI allows you cut down on the time spent responding to emails. We all receive an overwhelming number of emails to our inbox on a daily basis, many of which require only a simple response requiring little thought. With Gmail’s Smart Reply, the system analyzes incoming email and suggests three responses for you to choose from. It can also help you with more complex responses by providing you a jump start to your email. Smart Reply utilizes machine learning to give you better responses the more you use it. So if you’re more of a “thanks!” than a “thanks.” person, Smart Reply will eventually suggest responses that are more you!

Automate Customer Service

Many companies are starting to use chatbots to improve the customer experience and reduce the dependence on human interactions. Natural Language Processing is a ML solution that mimics the way humans talk to each other, which can create a more authentic experience for customers. Companies are integrating chatbots on e-commerce websites and call centers to provide customers with a conversational experience that gets their questions answered and provides useful information. Not only are organizations saving time and money by utilizing chatbots for customer service, but they are providing customers with access to support anytime (chatbots work 24/7).

Furthermore, another benefit to leveraging chatbots is the ability to extract actionable insights on product reception or user experience from customer conversations using entity detection and sentiment analysis. ML capabilities can also be used to up-sell and cross-sell at the moment the customer is engaged.

Protect Company Information

As more security threats arise, companies need to respond faster to these alerts. Organizations are leveraging AI technology to help protect company information from spam, phishing, and malware threats. Google has applied ML to billions of threat indicators to quickly identify what could be a phishing attack in the making. Information from these self-learning ML models helps to flag suspicious content.

Google Cloud recently added 20 new updates to deepen and expand Google Cloud customers’ proactive control over their security. Many of these features will be turned on by default for G Suite so that you can be sure the right protections are in place for your organization.
